Too Many Tweets

Well there I was, tweeting merrily away earlier today on the micro-blogging phenomenon that is Twitter; when all of a sudden I’m cut off in my prime with a “Too Many Tweets” message. Oo-er!
This is yet another sign of Twitter’s continued growing pain troubles with intermittent outages of its server being experienced by myself and many other Tweeters in my network. A clear example of the company’s web servers being overload. The price to pay for being too popular, too soon I guess.
To be fair to them, I can imagine the amount of computing power needed to keep millions of Twitters Tweeting to be huge. The fact that Twitter traffic has erupted at an exponential rate over the last few months doesn’t make me surprised that they have to play catch-up with their server and bandwidth capacities and are clearly finding it hard-work. Hence messages like this:
A quick look on their status announcement page didn’t shed any light on the issue. So I guess it’s down to growing pains.
Still, it’s not as if my life depends upon Twitter, well not yet anyway! So I’m pretty laid back about the whole thing. They’ll get it sorted soon no doubt.
Now, let’s see what’s happening on Facebook whilst we wait…
